Welcome to the Illustrated Movement Dance Academy. We are excited to assist you and your dancer in reaching your aspirations and dreams in the art and sport of dance.
YOUNG DANCERS (YDP)

We offer a range of classes tailored for babies as young as 12 months old and for 5-year-olds who are preparing for school.
Classic Program

Our comprehensive programs cater to all levels of expertise, ensuring that every student receives top-notch instruction from certified teachers associated with the Canadian Dance Teachers Association, Royal Academy of Dance, and Acrobatic & Aerial Arts syllabus.
Competitive Program

Students in every class can perform at two dance competitions in their selected styles. The teacher and Artistic Directors determine eligibility for competitions. Students have the choice to compete or not. Those who wish to compete with a solo, duet, or trio must meet specific requirements. For more information, contact the office.
YOGA CLASSES

AERIAL HOOPS & SILKS

Aerial hoops (Lyra) and Silks are an artistic combination of acrobatics and hoop performances. Students will learn to perform on a suspended steel hoop or two pieces of silk fabric suspended from a height. We recommend that students also take acrobatics, as the skills are transferable. Initially, students will learn proper gripping, balance, strength, flexibility, technique, hangs, positioning, spins, and partner work.

We provide comprehensive programs tailored for all levels, from beginners to semi-professionals. Our professionally designed classes are catered to match each student’s level and specific needs.
As Palmerston’s first professional dance academy, IMDA is dedicated to developing, teaching, and promoting the art of dance with the unwavering support of the growing Minto community. With over half a decade of experience delivering exceptional dance training, our students gain self-confidence, discipline, and outstanding performance skills. They proudly demonstrate their expertise and training by captivating audiences at community events, showcases, and sold-out productions every season.
